The South Side of Chicago is full of entrepreneurs that deserve recognition for contributing in positive ways to the lives of their customers, employees, community members, and themselves through their businesses. For the past 8 years, we have held South Side Pitch, a shark-tank style pitch competition, to put a spotlight on some of these incredible business owners. This year, on October 21, finalists will once again pitch their business to a city-wide audience and a panel of judges for the chance to win cash prizes. The winners of South Side Pitch will be determined based on the judge evaluations and the audience votes. Similar to last year, the audience will get a chance to select their favorite businesses by voting in online polls that will open up during the semi-final and final rounds.
South Side Pitch is hosted by the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship. The Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago Law School advocates for economic liberty, so that entrepreneurs from Chicago can chart their own courses in life, build up neighborhoods, and create jobs. We provide free legal assistance, access to resources, and advocacy for low-income entrepreneurs in the Chicago area.
